In Motovun, on Saturday, September 2, 2023, the white truffle hunting season officially opened. The day commenced with a demonstration truffle hunt in the Motovun Forest, followed by a gathering and tasting of dishes featuring Istrian white truffle and summer truffle in the garden of the boutique hotel “Kaštel” in Motovun. As part of the event, awards were presented for the largest and best Istrian white truffle. Mr. Darko Muzica, President of the Istrian Truffle Association, and Mr. Ezio Pinzan, Head of the Administrative Department for Agriculture, Forestry, Hunting, Fisheries, and Water Management of the Istrian County, informed all present members of the association, their friends, and supporters about the commencement of work on the initiative to protect the geographical indication of the Istrian white truffle.
