The two-day Istrian Truffle Festival, the last of this season in the zone of the world’s most expensive underground fungus, opened its 20th jubilee edition on November 4th in Buzet, in a large tent in Mašimova škuj, where more than fifty producers of typical local products presented themselves, including six companies involved in the purchase and sale of truffles, and the “Istra” Truffle Growers’ Association.
Mario Bratulić, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, conveyed the message from the Ministry of Agriculture and stated that a new programming period is ahead. New funds are planned for all producers, including truffle growers.

We are commencing with the protection of the Istrian white truffle, and the Ministry will make significant efforts to ensure this protection occurs as soon as possible, stated Bratulić. The truffle, emphasized Ezio Pinzan, the county head of agriculture, is a promoter of the eno-gastronomic offer in the county. He thanked the Istrian Truffle Growers’ Association, which, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Istrian County, initiated the process of protecting the geographical indication of the Istrian white truffle. This will, as Pinzan said, in a special, scientific, expert, and specific way, prove its uniqueness compared to all other white truffles in the world.
